DERA GHAZI KHAN:

As a group of relatives of missing men and those killed during an alleged operation of the CTD in Turbat entered Punjab through the tribal area of Dera Ghazi Khan on their way to protest in Islamabad, the police arrested 10 men and briefly detained several women.

According to sources, a case is likely to be filed against the detained persons for violating Section 144.

A procession was taken out on the occasion by the Baloch Solidarity Committee on Shah Sikandar Road.

Men and women going to participate in the long march from Balochistan were gathering at Sakhi Sarwar checkpoint when the police tried to stop them and faced resistance. Several men and women were taken into custody and transferred to the Police Lines.

The sources said the women were later released, but a case was likely to be registered against the detained men for violation of Section 144.

City ASP Rehmatullah Durrani told the protesters that Section 144 was in force, so a procession or rally could not be organised.

The detained men included Hafiz Jameel Leghari, Shaukat Ali, Asif Leghari, Meraj Leghari and Abdullah Saleh.
