Taunts have a way of circling back to you when you are at your most vulnerable: Nadia Khan

Pakistani actor and TV host Nadia Khan sat down for a candid chat on Good Morning Pakistan with host Nida Yasir in an episode chronicling the various facets of womanhood. Recounting a painful anecdote from her youth, Nadia expressed her belief in karma regarding people who taunt others over what they perceive as a misfortune.

The Kam Zarf actor recalled a woman who would persistently look down upon her mother for having four daughters. “She would say, ‘I have four sons so I am at peace but Tahira what will you do? You have four daughters,’ and she would say this over and over,” Nadia shared.

She furthered on, “It used to hurt me so much how she would taunt my mother over having four daughters every time she visited us.” However, the renowned host maintained that anyone with such careless regard for words is bound to hear them back.

“Time passed and now that Aunty is so sick. Now, her constant plea is: I wish I had a daughter,” Nadia remarked on the unfortunate frailty that accompanies old age, insisting that it’s a phase that daughters are better able to assist with. She said, “Now she needs someone to take her to the bathroom, someone who will talk to her, look after her but she has no one. Her sons settled down and dispersed.”

Nadia also relayed how the woman now catches the same jeering refrain from others. “Ironically, the other day a maid taunted her similarly, saying Aunty I wish you had a daughter.” Contemplating the universe’s affinity for karma, the actor cautiously wondered if this was a divine lesson for everyone who expends words with cruelty.

She contended, “People should never say things like these. Taunts have a way of circling back to you when you are at your most vulnerable. This is life. This karma. What goes around, comes around with even more intensity. This is why people should be careful about what they say and fear Allah.”
