LAHORE:

The Lahore police have decided to become complainant in the murder case of a student who had died of a bullet injury suffered during a confrontation following harassment by an underage driver in the Chung area.

The decision was taken after the father of the victim, Tazin Khan, told DIG Investigations Imran Kishwar that the families had reconciled over the incident.

Afterwards, the police added Section 311 of Pakistan Penal Code, empowering the department to become the complainant in the case and pursue it.

The caretaker chief minister of Punjab had taken notice of the incident after relatives of the victim had alleged that they were being pressured for reconciliation.

The police had on Sunday added sections related to murder in the case of attempted murder of the female student of a medical college after she had passed away.

The victim was returning home in a car along with her mother and brother, Muhammad Ali, after meeting a relative when she was allegedly chased and harassed by a teenage driver, Abdullah.

After the victim’s family confronted him, he had called his uncles who arrived near a private housing society and opened fire.

The victim had suffered a bullet injury in her back and had been admitted to hospital, where she died.

Chung police had registered a case against the attackers for attempted murder on the complaint of her maternal uncle Rizwanul Haq.

The complainant in the case had told the police that the suspects had harassed the women members of his family when they were travelling. The suspects had been warned over the harassment.

In order to take revenge, the prime suspect and his accomplices intercepted the car and opened indiscriminate fire. The attackers had fled the scene.
