LAHORE:

Lahore High Court's (LHC) Justice Shehram Sarwar has called for the case record related to the appointment of a principal secretary in a case against former chief minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.

The case, registered by Anti-Corruption police, alleges the misuse of powers in recruiting a lower-ranking officer.

The law officer argued that Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, during his tenure as Punjab CM, had unlawfully appointed Muhammad Khan Bhatti, a lower-ranking officer, as the principal secretary to the CM Punjab. The appointment, according to the prosecution, did not follow the proper due process.

In response, Elahi's counsel claimed that all necessary procedures were adhered to in the appointment of the principal secretary.

The petitioner, represented by Elahi's counsel, asserted that a false and concocted FIR was filed against his client, aiming to humiliate and embarrass him, despite his lack of involvement in the case.

The counsel further argued that Muhammad Khan Bhatti had been cleared of the charges in this case.

Still, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi is allegedly subjected to political victimization, he alleged. The petitioner requested the court to grant post-arrest bail to the accused Elahi.
