QUETTA:

Caretaker Balochistan Information Minister Jan Achakzai on Sunday revealed that NADRA had blocked 2,700 fake passports in Chagai, Quetta, and Taftan, saying that a special team had been formed to take action against fake Computerised National Identity Cards in Balochistan.

“Over 200,000 fake CNICs have been blocked in Balochistan, while the total number of illegal immigrants in Pakistan is around 1.7 million,” Achakzai said while addressing a news conference at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office.

He hoped that the deportation of one million illegal foreigners would be completed by January next year.

The minister said that the protection provided to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan in Afghanistan was a worrisome development for the entire world.

On the conviction of two former servicemen for inciting mutiny, the provincial minister maintained that the operation against anti-state elements had been initiated.

After their conviction, under the Pakistan Army Act, 1952, he said that Major (retd) Adil Farooq Raja and Captain (retd) Haider Raza could no longer use the name of the army.

Major (retd) Adil Farooq Raja was sentenced to 14 years imprisonment with hard labour while Captain (retd) Haider Raza Mehdi was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment.

“The action against them is an expression of determination that whoever plays into the hands of foreign agencies anywhere in the world would be held accountable,” he said.

Achackzai also requested the governments of Canada and the UK to take strict action against them, alleging that they were agents of India and had betrayed their motherland and martyrs of the country.
