Ali Zafar wins big at DIAFA, rubs shoulders with Bollywood stars
Renowned Pakistani singer and actor Ali Zafar has added another feather to his cap by clinching the title of Pakistani Artist of the Year at the Distinctive International Arab Festivals Awards (DIAFA) held in Dubai. The prestigious award not only acknowledges Zafar's exceptional talent but also pays tribute to his enduring influence on the music scene in the country and beyond.
Dressed in an impeccably tailored black suit paired with a bow tie, Zafar, accompanied by his wife Ayesha Fazli, graced the occasion. According to Arab News, the singer not only graciously accepted the accolade but also treated the audience to a mesmerizing performance of his hit song, Jhoom at the Dubai Festival City Mall.
The presenter, recognizing the rich and diverse musical landscape of Pakistan, lauded Zafar's impact on the global music scene, stating, "Tonight, we celebrate the Pakistani artist whose impact has been nothing but phenomenal."
Expressing his gratitude, Zafar took a moment to thank the awarding committee and all the event attendees. Importantly, in a poignant gesture, he highlighted the ongoing atrocities in Gaza, commending the DIAFA management for shedding light on the plight of the Palestinians during the ceremony.
"I am indebted to the committee and the team and particularly moved by the gesture that this ceremony brings to light the plights of a very important cause which is what is happening in Gaza, what has been happening in Palestine for decades," Zafar stated.
The 'rockstar' was later seen mingling with Pakistani and Indian celebrities, with pictures circulating widely on social media showing Zafar rubbing shoulders with Bollywood stars Aditi Rao Hyderi, Nargis Fakhri, and Jacqueline Fernandez.
Zafar now joins the esteemed list of Pakistani celebrities honoured at the DIAFA Awards. Previous editions saw luminaries such as Maya Ali, Sajal Aly, and Mahira Khan receiving accolades for their outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment. This recognition on international platforms not only reflects the global impact of Pakistani artists but also makes the nation proud on a grand scale.
