ISLAMABAD:

The Ambassador of the Netherlands to Pakistan, Henny Fokel de Vries, met with Minister of Commerce and Industries, Dr Gohar Ejaz, to discuss avenues for strengthening collaboration between the two nations. The ambassador expressed satisfaction with the robust trade ties, particularly in textiles, and conveyed the Netherlands’ interest in livestock and potatoes from Pakistan.

Highlighting the potential for a robust agricultural partnership, Ambassador de Vries emphasised the abundance of land and labour in Pakistan. She committed to exploring additional trade growth opportunities, underscoring technology and academic exchange. Ejaz outlined Pakistan’s investment potential in IT, agriculture, and mining, positioning the country as an attractive destination for foreign investment.

Acknowledging the Netherlands as a key foreign trade partner, the commerce minister underlined the importance of the Special Investment Facilitation Council to streamline foreign direct investment. He expressed eagerness to collaborate with the Netherlands on technology transfer in agriculture.
