School vandalised in Bajaur district

Miscreants make off with furniture, valuable items

BAJAUR:

Overnight, unidentified miscreants perpetrated an egregious act of vandalism by demolishing a school in Tehsil Loy Mamond’s Laghari area of Bajaur tribal district.

The targeted institution, Government Primary School Mulla Kalay, saw its roof and boundary wall razed to the ground, with miscreants making off with valuable items such as steel beams and furniture, police told The Express Tribune.

Shockingly, this incident went unnoticed, as the miscreants operated discreetly, undermining the security of the school.

The school, established by the government within the premises of an abandoned levies post, played a vital role in catering to the educational needs of the local community. Teachers, hired from the area, were instrumental in addressing the demands of residents.

While initially designed as a boys’ school, the facility accommodated girls as well, given the absence of a dedicated girls’ primary school in the vicinity. Tragically, the absence of security personnel further exacerbated the vulnerability of the institution.
