LAHORE:

An anti-terrorism court judge handed over a teenager accused of causing the death of six members of a family while driving a car without licence to the police for five days on physical remand on Saturday.

Defence-C police produced the suspect before the court, seeking his physical remand for further investigation.

The investigation officer (IO) of the case told the court that Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act had been added and further investigation into the incident was required.

When the ATC judge asked if a magistrate had earlier grant remand of the suspect, the complainant’s counsel responded that the IO had not requested physical remand then.

The defence counsel said the occurrence was unfortunate without doubt and “we are admitting that it happened with the negligence of the accused but the fact cannot be ignored that his age is about 17 years”.
