With the advent of the winter season, the demand for quilts rises due to which quilt makers are seen

stitching hand-made quilts on the rooftops of their workplaces for customers across the country.

Winter brings in brisk business for quilt makers as they receive a large number of hand-made traditional quilt orders.

"Although there is a huge variety of machine-made modern blanks in the market, which are lighter in weight and cost-friendly, however, the people of Punjab still prefer hand-made razai or cotton comforters over others,” said a report aired by a private news channel.

A citizen from Lahore shared that traditional workers have been spending their days stitching quilts for customers as the demand for quilts rises with the drop in temperatures.

A professional quilter-maker, who had been associated with the profession for more than 30 years commented that apart from preparing quilts in his shop, he also seeks help from home-based female quilt-makers to manage the workload during the winter season.

Another owner of a quilt and bed-sheet business said, “Traditional quilts are still the first choice of consumers in Punjab and we sew at least three to five quilts a day.
