As many as 50 marriage hall owners were fined and two of them were arrested over violation of the Marriage Functions Act in the division. According to a handout issued on Friday, during an ongoing crackdown against marriage halls violating the Act, Assistant Commissioners (ACs) in all tehsils inspected 948 marriage halls this month.
They imposed a total fine of Rs1.66 million on 50 marriage hall owners for violation of one dish in four districts of the division, while two marriage hall owners were also arrested.
Meanwhile in Bahawalpur, Implementation of one-dish and time restrictions at marriage lawns and banquet halls is being ensured through vigorous monitoring.
In this regard, assistant commissioners and price control magistrates of Bahawalpur district are active in the field and visited 598 marriage lawns and banquet halls between November 4 and 16 and found violations of one dish and time restrictions at 12 places. A fine of more than Rs500,000 was imposed on the spot, one FIR was registered and 2 halls were sealed.
