‘Cleaning pivotal to averting smog issues’

Commissioner stresses zero tolerance for negligence in maintaining cleanliness

ISLAMABAD:

Rawalpindi Division Commissioner Liaqat Ali Chatha along with Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) Chairman Saqib Rafiq and RWMC CEO Rana Sajid Safdar visited different areas of the garrison city including Mohammadi Chowk, Khayban e Sir Syed, Phagwari and F block Satellite Town and reviewed cleanliness in detail.

Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Chatha emphasized the imperative nature of a clean environment, asserting that it is the collective responsibility of every individual to uphold cleanliness standards. He underscored zero tolerance for any negligence in maintaining cleanliness and highlighted that effective cleaning measures are pivotal in averting smog-related issues.

He instructed RWMC officials to monitor worker attendance closely. Additionally, representatives from UC's Waste Management Committees met the Rawalpindi commissioner to discuss RWMC's cleanliness performance. The committee representatives offered suggestions for enhancements, labelling the cleanliness status as satisfactory.

Chatha further said committees formed at the Union Council level to monitor cleanliness are proving to be helpful in cleaning the city. Monitoring committees should work with the citizens to further improve the cleanliness of the city.
