Kharak Singh mansion to be restored

Authority to restore 10 more shrines

LAHORE:

The restoration of the historic Kharak Singh’s mansion with plans to refurbish its rooms for ensuring standard facilities for tourists’ accommodation was discussed in a meeting on Tuesday.

The participants assessed progress on the restoration projects for the historic gates of Lahore and fort Kohna Qasim Bagh in Multan.

Walled City of Lahore Authority Director General Kamran Lashari said swift progress was being made in the restoration of the Bradley Hall, where notable leaders like Nehru, Gandhi and Bhagat Singh had addressed events.

The historic Barkat Ali Islamia Hall is also undergoing restoration.

He said the authority would also restore 10 shrines.

The participants discussed a plan to remove poles from the Mall Road to restore its original view and sustaining the results of the efforts.

Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi called for relocating the Rim Market and accelerating work on the Lahore Fort Cafe.
