Frauds, attention seekers: Fatima Bhutto slams ‘pop-feminists’ for silence on Palestine

Author condemned inaction over premature infants’ battle for life after power failure shuts down Gaza incubators

Thousands of Palestinians were forcefully evicted South while Israel continued to target hospitals and refugee camps amid protestors across the world calling for a ceasefire. According to Palestinian officials, at least 11,078 Gazans have been killed in air and artillery strikes since October 7, majority of them children, women, and the elderly, as of Friday.

As per Al Jazeera, power failure at neonatal intensive care unit at Gaza's al-Shifa Hospital resulted in the tragic deaths of two premature babies while risking the lives of 37 other infants in the neonatal unit amid dwindling fuel reserves as incubators cease operation.

Responding to the news, author and columnist Fatima Bhutto, who has repeatedly called out Israel’s intensifying persecution of Palestinians, posted a series of quote replies, slamming “pop-feminists” for their selective outrage, comparing their response to acts of violence perpetrated against white people with their silence on Israel’s apartheid.

The author penned, “Every female celeb under the sun wore a woman life freedom T-shirt, wore Times Up badges, and stood alongside a racist French magazine, wearing Charlie Hebdo accessories. And yet have said nothing, utter silence, on the women whose babies are left to die without oxygen.”

Fatima called out the cherry-picking of humanitarian causes, contending, “When these pop-feminists speak about ‘feminism’, ask them what they said about this- forever. Let their failure of humanity haunt them so they never speak about women or rights or freedom again.”

She furthered on, “I hope they just wear their dresses and nice shoes and pose for pictures on red carpets. They aren’t capable of anything more than that.” In another post, Fatima continued her diatribe, stating, “Tell me the names of all the feminists who have said one word about this?”

“You can count them on one hand, maybe two. The rest are frauds, performative feminists, attention seekers,” the columnist asserted.
