LAHORE:

A case related to smog remediation will be heard in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday. Justice Shahid Karim will hear the case, while Environmental Commission member Syed Kamal Haider will present a report on the implementation of the court's prior orders.

An LHC spokesperson told the media that Deputy Attorney General (DAG) Asad Ali Bajwa will appear on behalf of the federal government. Representatives from the EPD, LDA, PHA, Traffic Police and other departments will also present.

It is worth mentioning that on November 3rd, the LHC ordered the demolition of factories that failed to adopt corrective measures to reduce emissions to combat the ongoing smog crisis in the provincial metropolis.

The court ordered the relevant authorities to seal all smoke-emitting factories and made it clear that these factories will face demolition if they do not comply.

The court also directed authorities to collect affidavits from industrialists to ensure that they commit to the necessary steps to mitigate the impact of pollution in the city.
