Azaan Sami Khan is out with the first track from his upcoming album, Azaan.

Titled Beby, the song is a captivating addition to the Pakistani indie pop scene, showcasing Azaan’s musical versatility and storytelling prowess. The reggaeton and afrobeat fusion, a genre gaining prominence in the country, provides a fresh and engaging backdrop for the emotional journey depicted in its music video. Produced by Talal Qureshi, Beby incorporates elements of techno, electropop, and synth-wave, creating a dynamic soundscape that complements the theme of love, loss and betrayal, explored in the lyrics.

Its music video, by director Nabeel Qureshi and producer Fizza Ali Meerza, is a visual spectacle, with Azaan and Aena Khan delivering convincing performances. Featuring Azaan as a robber and Aena as his love interest, it sees the prior in troubled waters, covered in tattoos, driving a sexy muscle car while the latter portrays a waitress at a drive-in café. The clip takes off with Azaan making a quick stop at this eatery where he is introduced to Aena. She serves him hot coffee with “Beby” inscribed on the cup. Azaan, already smitten by this gesture, is further presented with the opportunity to take her on a drive.

The video cuts to sequences of the duo falling in love and getting in trouble – the kind that involves cops chasing them around. They are eventually seen robbing a store together and getting carried away in the process. The chemistry between Azaan and Aena is palpable, and the video successfully captures the highs and lows of their relationship. The incorporation of elements like robbery and a run-in with the law adds a thrilling aspect to the storyline, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats.

The visual aesthetics, including the neon-lit drive-in café and the stylishly shot car scenes, enhance the overall viewing experience. The song's upbeat and groovy nature provides a contrasting yet fitting backdrop to the tumultuous events in the video. The use of various musical elements, including the drum machine, bass, keyboard, and guitars, contributes to the overall richness of the sound.

In the final moments of the video, the unexpected twist adds a layer of complexity to the narrative, leaving viewers with a sense of intrigue and anticipation. Azaan's ability to convey emotion through his vocals, coupled with the well-crafted production and compelling storytelling, positions Beby as a standout track from his discography.
