Families of Imran, Qureshi to allowed attend cipher trial

Five family members of each accused will be allowed to attend proceedings in Adiala jail

ISLAMABAD:

The special court granted permission on Friday to five family members each of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan and Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi to attend the cipher case proceedings, being held inside the Adiala Jail.

Qureshi's wife and daughter were present during the proceedings on Friday but Imran's family members were expected to attend the next hearing, which was slated for November 14. The court directed three witnesses produced by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to appear before it at the next hearing.

Speaking to the media after the hearing, prosecutor Shah Khawar said the hearing was adjourned due to the absence of the defence lawyer. Meanwhile, the court directed the Adiala jail superintendent to permit the PTI chief to speak with his sons once a week.
