US irrationality

As the world calls for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza to enable humanitarian aid to the dispossessed, the US has taken an illogical and immoral stance. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, on his second trip to the Middle East, stood his ground as he made the Arab leaders believe that “an instant ceasing of fire by Israel will help Hamas regroup” and went on to say that “…no nation, none of us would accept that.” This is transgression and bias at its maximum. It simply proves that President Biden’s administration has no legitimacy left while speaking for the Americans, and the world conscience, as it behaves as a provisional government of Israel.

Saturday night’s Israeli airstrike at a UN-run shelter school killed scores of Palestinians, and has come close on the heels of another attack at a hospital in Gaza, which killed more than 500 people. These shameless acts are in contravention to global conventions of warfare, and are crimes against humanity. The indiscriminate use of force with which the Jewish state is obsessed has the backing of the White House, and this makes Biden and his administration abettors in genocide underway against stateless Palestinians.

The question is: who will secure some breathing space for Gazans? The Arab states seem to be in a limbo as standing beside Blinken their foreign ministers were clueless to the core. The point is: what business did Blinken have in the Middle East if he was so categorical about the US approach, and what had he to discuss with his Arab counterparts? This indicates a meltdown of diplomacy, and a mindset of aggression and intimidation ruling the roost. Perhaps, the Biden administration has turned a blind eye to the mass public support the Palestinian cause is gathering not only across the world but also inside the US. It’s time for Washington to clearly read the writing on the wall, and repost its position well in relevance with human sentiments. This unjust political position will only beget more violence.
