All set to root-out dacoit culture: CM

Foolproof strategy has been devised to end dacoit culture, says caretaker CM

KARACHI:

Sindh’s Caretaker Chief  Minister Justice (retd) Maqbool  Baqar has  reiterated his government’s  commitment to combating the menace of street crime in Karachi and dacoits in the riverine area of rural Sindh.

“A foolproof strategy has been devised and I am confident  that  this  innovative and trusted approach will help us eliminate the dacoit culture from the remaining  parts of the province,”  he  said while addressing the participants at the 25th Security Workshop of the National Defence University (NDU) on Thursday.

The participants included current and former members of provincial assemblies, senators, senior civil and military officers, academicians, as well as representatives of civil society. Provincial caretaker ministers, Chief Secretary

Dr Fakhre Alam, IG Sindh Police Rifat Mukhtar, and provincial secretaries were also in attendance.The chief minister highlighted the purpose of such  workshops, which is to  familiarise participants  with  the  realities of  the  areas  they  visit,  exchange  ideas  regarding  security  challenges,  and  build synergistic alliances  to find solutions to shared problems.

“With  a  population  of  over  200  million  people, and  an  expected  100  million  people  in  the middle class by  2025,  Pakistan’s  middle  class  is  set  to  become  the  10th  largest  in  the world,” he said. He underlined the government’s  challenge to create opportunities  and  provide the youth with avenues for fulfillment  and  self-actualization
