In an extraordinary display of solidarity and a heartfelt protest for the Palestinian cause, 25 exceptionally talented artists from West Asia and North Africa (WANA) have come together to create Rajieen, a powerful anthem that transcends borders, embodying resilience and resistance in response to the ongoing crisis in Gaza and the unyielding struggle of the Palestinian people.
With the guidance of Nasir AlBashir, an accomplished Jordanian producer and multi-instrumentalist, and additional production from Egyptian singer-songwriter and producer Marwan Moussa and producer Amr Shomali, this track stands poised to spark a global call for justice and unity.
As a symbol of hope and perseverance, Rajieen was a labour of love that involved artists from across the region gathering at Levant Studios in Amman, as per GQ, while others participated remotely in the recording and filming process. The collaborative effort speaks volumes as it represents Palestinian artists who, under the imminent threat of repercussions from the Israeli occupation, were unable to lend their voices to the project.
The roster of participating artists contributing their voices to Rajieen is a star-studded list that includes Saif Safadi, Dana Salah, Ghalia Chaker, Afroto, Nordo, Saif Shroof, Akhras, Issam AlNajjar, Amir Eid, Balti, Wessam Qutub, Dina Wideidi, Bataineh, Omar Rammal, AlYung, Randar, Vortex, Small X, ALA, Fuad Gritli, Donia Wael, Zeyne, Marwan Moussa, Dafencii, and former GQ Middle East cover star, Marwan Pablo.
This exceptional initiative was set in motion and organized by a team of creatives and visionaries who shared a deep commitment to the Palestinian cause. The visionary minds behind Rajieen include Nasir AlBashir, Palestinian-Jordanian writer and actor Hayat Abu Samra, Jordanian creative director Farah Hourani, Reem Kanj, co-founder of Ego & East Talent Management, Founder of Beirut Records & International Artist Manager Hiba Abou Haidar, Libyan director Ahmad Kwifiya, and Palestinian filmmaker Omar Rammal.
Rajieen is more than just a song; it is a powerful musical composition that fuses hip-hop, rap, Arabic backbeats, and soulful elements. It aspires to follow in the footsteps of legendary compositions like We Are the World and The Arab Dream but carries an even more profound message. The song captures the spirit of the artists, resonating with the struggle and determination of the Palestinian people.
The music video for Rajieen, filmed at the Olive Wood Studios, Amman's latest film studios, aims to visually represent the unity, strength, and solidarity of the participating artists while shedding light on the collective stance for Palestine. Throughout the video, actual footage from Gaza and the history of the occupation in Palestine is juxtaposed to raise awareness and provide an authentic narrative often missing from Western media portrayals.
All revenue generated from the track and video will be dedicated to supporting the Palestine Children's Relief Fund, reinforcing the message of hope and solidarity. It stands as a testament to propel change and capture the world's attention during these urgent global concerns, ensuring that the world does not forget the plight of the Palestinian people.
In a world where art has the power to unite, Rajieen is a testament to the indomitable spirit of the artists who, through their collective voices, stand by Palestine in its quest for justice and a brighter future.
