PESHAWAR:

Laiq Zada Laiq, a renowned poet, writer, literary figure and former Radio Pakistan programme director, passed away in Peshawar.

His life was a testament to his literary prowess and dedication. At the time of his passing, he was 64 years old and had authored an impressive collection of 38 books.

He was buried by close and dear ones with tears rolling down their cheeks at his Madyan village in Swat.

The funeral prayer and burial were attended by thousands of people and personalities from different schools of thought.

He had suffered a heart attack a couple of days ago and was undergoing treatment at a hospital.

He opened his eyes in January 1959. He was the youngest among four brothers. As a child, he was very fond of pigeon-breeding and wrote his first poem on pigeons.

He completed his matriculation from Government High School Madyan in 1975; FA from Government Jahanzeb College, Swat in 1977 and BA from the same college in 1979; MA in 1983; LLB from Karachi University in 1987; and MA in Urdu as well as MA in Pashto from Peshawar University.
