Music shows cancelled to honour Gaza martyrs
The music programmes scheduled during the ‘Lahore Lahore Ae’ festival have been cancelled owing to the martyrdom of a large number of Palestinian people in Israel's bombing of Gaza.
According to an official announcement, the remaining events of the festival will continue as usual.
As per the initial plan, the festival would have featured live performances by 16 well-known singers, including Sahir Ali Baga, Hadiqa Kayani, Naseebo Lal, Arif Lohar, Humira Arshad, Sain Zahoor and Nadeem Abbas.
The festival began on Saturday with a ceremony organized at Alhamra Hall and will continue till November 12. A Mahfil-e-Sama was part of the event.
The 16-day festival has bene organised with the partnership of several departments of the Punjab government.
It will highlight Lahore's history, culture, literature, theatre, sports, food and beauty. A food gala is planned from November 8 to 12, from 10amto 10pm in addition to a vintage car show.
From November 6 to 12, the Walled City will host Qawwali nights at 8:00pm.
