KARACHI:

Member of the Coordination Committee of Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) and former federal minister Syed Aminul Haque has strongly reacted to the comments made by the caretaker Federal Interior Minister, Sarfraz Bugti, before the Senate Standing Committee on Biharis. He said that people who migrated from former East Pakistan are not Biharis, they are Pakistanis. Just like the people who moved from Punjab, UP, and CP, the Biharis are also Pakistanis. MQM-Pakistan vehemently condemns referring them as illegal immigrants.

Haque asked Bugti to retract his remarks and apologise to the people who migrated from the former East Pakistan.

MQM-P Convenor Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, said, “there is no one more devoted than those who fought and got independence for Pakistan. Nobody can demand a certificate of loyalty from them.”

He expressed these views while addressing at a dinner hosted in his honour by the head of the Malik community Liaquatabad, Malik Haji Muhammad Akhtar. A large number of Malik community of Liaquatabad announced joining MQM.
