LAHORE:

Chairman of the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA), Sajjad Ghani, met with the US Department of Interior-funded water resources expert, Alexandra Campbell Ferrari, in his office on Tuesday. The meeting focused on matters related to Pakistan’s overall water situation, changing climatic patterns, and their impacts on the country's water resources.

The WAPDA chairman emphasised the need for global efforts to address the adverse effects of climate change on water resources. He informed the expert about WAPDA’s green strategies in response to climate change, which involve the development of water and hydropower projects aimed at sustaining economic growth in Pakistan.

Recognising US support for WAPDA in harnessing water and hydropower resources, he expressed hope that the visit by the US water resources expert would help identify opportunities to strengthen bilateral partnerships in water management, environmental conservation, and climate action.
