Woman booked for aiding son’s attempted suicide

The mother of the accused allegedly sprayed petrol on the police officers and her son

DIJKOT:

A case was registered against the mother of an accused who attempted suicide at the District Court earlier this week. The police have started the process of investigating the matter.

ASI Karamatullah filed a case with Kotwali police station, stating that he, his driver Khalid Nadeem and Constable Waleed Ijaz went to present the accused Muhammad Qasim in court for a robbery case. The officers were also transporting Asad Tahir and Sultan Mehmood. When the accused were being brought back to the car after being presented in court, Sajida Perveen, the mother of the accused Qasim, allegedly sprayed petrol on the police officers and her son accused in front of the Prosecution Branch.

Meanwhile, Qasim allegedly used a match to set himself on fire. Constable Waleed Ahmed extinguished the fire by throwing a blanket over him, due to which his hand was also burned. The accused Qasim reportedly tried to commit suicide at the behest of his mother Sajida Parveen out of resentment for his arrest.
