Doctors observe black day against Israeli atrocities in Gaza
Doctor’s community has announced to observe black day on Thursday (today) across the country against the bombardment of Al-Ahli Hospital by Israeli forces, killing over a thousand innocent patients, citizens, and healthcare workers in Gaza.
The doctors said, thousands of medical workers from Pakistan are ready to go to extend medical care to the oppressed Palestinians. They said, Israel has crossed all limits in the current Gaza offensive.
Geneva Convention clearly states that in war situation the healthcare facilities, workers and patients should not be targeted. Israeli forces are violating Geneva Convention. Why the international institutions and organisations are silent on Israel’s criminal actions? Young Doctors Association (YDA) spokesperson Dr Faisal Javed said, “All our sympathies are with Palestine.
Pakistani doctors should be allowed to go Gaza.” Secretary Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Dr Abdul Ghafoor Shoro said, PMA has written letters to World Medical Association and UNO. He said that, UNO did not respond to the letter but the World Medical Association has responded and condemned the Israeli attack. He further said that, WHO also does not play any role in the current situation.
The World Medical Association, in a statement, said it stands firmly for the principles of medical neutrality as defined by the Geneva Convention, and calls on all parties to respect international law and the integrity of unrelated civilian populations.
WMA mourns over the loss of lives, especially those of healthcare personnel on both sides of the conflict, and stands in solidarity with all the physicians and healthcare personnel who are on the frontline, risking their lives to provide crucial medical care during these challenging times.
