The much-anticipated trailer of entrepreneur Raj Kundra's forthcoming film UT69 was released on Wednesday, offering a fascinating glimpse into his experiences. The film, in which Raj takes on the lead role, revolves around his personal journey, notably his time in Mumbai's Arthur Road Jail in connection with a controversial case.

The trailer opens dramatically with the flashing "breaking news" about Raj's arrest in 2021, setting the stage for the unfolding narrative. It swiftly transitions to the British-Indian businessman, standing in front of the imposing Arthur Road Jail, a place only known to him through stories.

Once inside the prison walls, the trailer illustrates the harsh realities that Raj encountered during his incarceration. Inmates make efforts to recognise him, casting leering glances his way. An instance from the trailer reveals his struggle to obtain a basic toothbrush for oral hygiene, to which the prison officer responds with a directive to use his fingers for brushing.

Raj is also compelled to strip naked and answer personal questions about his wife, the well-known star, Shilpa Shetty. These unsettling encounters become part of his daily life, further underscored by the crude remarks made by fellow inmates regarding his spouse.

He is also shown bathing in the open, highlighting the loss of privacy that is inherent in prison life. Moreover, he is seen dealing with the indignity of having to use a toilet in an open area, an experience that few can truly fathom. Throughout the trailer, there is a recurring theme of Raj attempting to adjust to the realities of his confinement. He is consoled with the belief that he is paying off his karmic debt. The trailer also emphasises the grim side of prison life, portraying Raj's struggles with inedible food.

Directed by Shahnawaz Ali, UT69 is described as being "based on a true story." The film provides a satirical take on the real-life incidents that transpired during Raj's time in Arthur Road jail. The trailer offers a glimpse of the emotional turbulence and challenges he faced during this period, with moments of comedic relief intertwined within the narrative.

UT69 may have the audience second-guessing the intentionality behind its release, but it could prove to be a breakout film for Raj. It is set to hit theatre screens on November 3, and one can only imagine the profound impact that UT69 will have when it finally unveils the full story behind the turbulent days in Arthur Road Jail.
