Toddler axed to death in Rawalpindi

Police say culprit also seriously wounded his sister

RAWALPINDI:

A man allegedly axed his three-year-old nephew to death and wounded his sister in the limits of Gujar Khan police station on Tuesday.

According to Rescue 1122, the accused killed his nephew Saim Ali, injured his 38-year-old sister Nighat Shafiq, and escaped after committing the crime.

After receiving information about the incident, the police and the rescue teams reached the spot.

According to preliminary suggestions, police said that the woman was attacked by his brother in the name of honour, however, they are looking into the case from all angles.

The deceased and the injured were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital Gujar Khan where the condition of the woman was stated to be critical. Later, the body of the child was handed over to his family after completing medico-legal formalities.

On the same day, Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) arrested 11 accused, members of a gang allegedly operating a drug trafficking network through online shopping platforms.

An official said that a total of 11 accused were arrested while 33 parcels had been recovered from the possession of the arrested persons.
