PESHAWAR:

A thrilling bull race took place in Risalpur, Nowshera district, KhyberPakhtunkhwa (K-P), with the joint efforts of the K-P Sports and Culture Department and the district administration.

This exciting event took place in the rural Zando Banda area of the district, attracting 105 powerful bulls from various regions of Punjab and K-P province.

The competition drew a massive crowd, bringing together thousands of spectators to witness this traditional bull race, which, though once widespread, has seen a decline in most parts of K-P.

Notably, Nowshera district claimed the top spot, with Swabi district’s team following closely, and Jalbai, Punjab securing the third position. Assistant Commissioner of Nowshera, speaking on the occasion, emphasized the significance of bull racing as a traditional and captivating sport.

He highlighted how the event served as a platform for cultural exchange, uniting teams from both Punjab and K-P province.

He expressed the commitment to promote bull racing, as well as other traditional yet dwindling sports like guli danda, by regularly organizing such sporting events across the province.

District Sports Officer of Nowshera, Zakaullah Khan, shared the vision of continuing to organize traditional sports events to further promote activities such as dog races, bull races, and archery in the future.
