Shooting occurred over opening of MQM office

KARACHI:

One of the five men wounded in a shooting incident triggered by the opening of an MQM-Pakistan officer in the Junejo Colony area of Sohrab Goth on October 13 has succumbed to his injuries at a hospital.

Police registered a case that includes charges of murder and attempted murder against five suspects on the complaint of the deceased's brother.

The victim has been identified as Inayatullah, known as Toor Khan. The other wounded men involved in the shooting are Awal Gul, Sher Zaman, Mohammad Khan, and Anwar.

On Saturday night, the family members, relatives, and local residents gathered outside the Sohrab Goth police station, along with the victim's body to demand the immediate arrest of the culprits. Inayatullah, son of Raza Khan, fell victim to indiscriminate gunfire around 11 pm on October 13, near Masjid Gulshan-e-Islam in Junejo Colony.

Inayatullah lost his life due to a gunshot wound to his left eye while being treated at a hospital on Stadium Road on the night of October 14. Police, after conducting a post-mortem, handed over the body to the deceased's brother. Ahmad Khan, the victim's brother, disclosed that Iqbal Masood, Noor Masood, Khalil, Jan Mohammad, and Noor Mohammad have been nominated as the main suspects in the case.

The incident unfolded during the opening of an office of MQM-Pakistan in proximity to the mosque's shops. After successful negotiations between police and the protesters, the protest was eventually dispersed. Ahmad Khan stated that police authorities have assured them of the suspects' apprehension.

In the event of no arrest within 12 hours, they have vowed to stage a sit-in on the highway, vowing not to cease until the culprits responsible for the death of Inayatullah are brought to justice.
