Don’t shy away from making yourself a priority: Mawra, Fahad talk mental health

Actors spoke in different ways about the vital issue

Entertainment Desk October 11, 2023

Sitting across Momin Saqib on Had Kar Di, Fahad Mustafa briefly talked about the mental health of fellow artists in the entertainment industry. Whether or not he was joking is a matter of interpretation. "I think there is no one in the industry to whom one can go for relationship advice because all are victims of mental health. Everyone has issues," declared the star.

Momin doubled down, asking if everyone truly has issues in the industry. "It's the nature of our work," stated Fahad. "What is our work? Someone sees you, they judge you based on looks, your voice, how you look today. Today, I've worn this shirt that I wore two days ago, someone's already put the video up, I saw it on the way...So, we are stuck on different topics. Why would you want advice? Take advice from someone at home."

In a much more sombre vein, Mawra Hocane took to her Instagram on World Mental Health Day to speak about the same. Sharing a video alongside, in which a younger version of the actor could be seen, the star penned, "I have spent the last three years of my life focusing on this little girl. She needed to heal, to rest, to be with herself...To walk away from the noise and the lights...Find that light within instead...To work just enough for joy and not find validation in exhaustion…Most importantly, she wanted to be ‘home’ and home she was after many many many years."

Mawra was referring to the child she once was, now her inner child, shedding light on the importance of healing the same. Many mental health professionals refer to the idea of healing one's inner child by giving them the love they lacked or sought. Since one's inner child is a part of oneself, this, inadvertently, is an act of self-love that facilitates healing the adult self as well.

The actor continued to highlight, "Don’t shy away from making yourself a priority. If 2020 taught me anything, it was to not ignore my inner voice, to listen to my body, to chase happiness and nothing else because, at the end of the day, it’s all that matters...Sending love and strength to those who still suffer in silence."

As the world continues to grapple with the idea of healing by paying due diligence to one's mental health, constructive conversations around the same will, undoubtedly, continue to be of the utmost importance.
