Consumption of paan, gutka banned in KMC building

The building holds historical significance, and maintaining cleanliness is a top priority

KARACHI:

The Municipal Commissioner of Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) has banned the consumption of paan, gutka, chalia, and related items within the confines of the KMC building. To enforce this prohibition, all department heads have been instructed to encourage their respective staff members to refrain from using these prohibited substances specially within the premises of the KMC building. This building holds historical significance, and maintaining cleanliness is a top priority.

Any KMC employee found consuming paan, gutka, chalia, etc., within the KMC building premises will face disciplinary action.

During a recent visit to the KMC building, Municipal Commissioner Syed Afzal Zaidi expressed dissatisfaction with the cleanliness conditions and the spitting of paan, gutka, and similar substances at many places.
