Dumper crushes man, son to death on Faizabad bridge

ISLAMABAD/RAWALPINDI:

A man and his son were crushed to death by a vehicle on Faizabad bridge on Tuesday. Police said that a speeding dumper truck drove over a motorcycle on IJP Road killing Shahid, and his 10-year-old son, Saqib, on the spot while seriously injuring his daughter.

The dumper driver managed to escape from the scene along with his vehicle.

On the same day, two young men on a motorcycle died when a passenger van collided with their motorcycle near Soan Bridge in the limits of Morgah police station.

After receiving information about the accident, Rescue 1122 teams reached the spot and shifted the bodies to a nearby hospital.

According to the eyewitnesses, two young men were on their way to Lahore from Rawalpindi when the accident took place on GT Road. The men died on the spot.

The van driver ran away after the accident, said the police, adding that they are conducting raids to arrest the driver. The identities of the deceased men have yet to be ascertained.

A case of accident has also been registered. Police said that the accident occurred due to negligence and speeding.
