Karan Johar's 'Konscience' trolls him in 'Koffee With Karan' Season 8 promo

Latest season of the offering will begin streaming on October 26

The infamously tantalising and highly-anticipated talk show, Koffee With Karan, is set to make a comeback with its eighth season, and Karan Johar, the charismatic filmmaker and host of the show affectionately called KJo, has unveiled a witty and self-aware promotional video that has left fans excited and intrigued.

In the recently released promo for Koffee With Karan season 8, Karan is seen casually sipping his coffee (rather, Koffee). However, the twist in the tale comes when his Konscience (conscience, but with a 'K') makes a surprise appearance to engage him in a candid conversation about the upcoming season. The promo hints that Karan is aware of the criticisms and mean comments from the past. Will he do anything about the same, though? 

In the video, Konscience humorously critiques the previous season, describing it as cold, with boring conversations. This statement leaves Karan visibly surprised, and he questions whether someone has spiked his coffee. Konscience responds with a playful quip, suggesting that perhaps a dash of "perspective" has been added to his coffee this time.

Continuing to tease Karan, Konscience pokes fun at the show's content and even questions the humour behind jokes involving "nepo babies." He humorously asks if these jokes were supposed to be funny. The banter escalates as Konscience critiques the repetitive nature of the previous episodes and the perceived lameness of a 50-year-old host delving into the sex lives of 20-year-olds. He cheekily questions, "Is it because you don't have a sex life of your own?"

As the conversation unfolds, KJo candidly admits that he could have done better, leading Konscience to suggest that he was too occupied with promoting eyeglasses and hair dyes, hinting at Karan's other endorsements (such as Lenskart). This revelation prompts a rejuvenated Karan to announce his plans for the upcoming season. He expresses his excitement about inviting newly married couples and cricketers, moving away from the spotlight on star kids, only to focus on, well, star grandkids.

Sharing the witty promo on Instagram, Karan wrote, "Turns out, my own Konscience wants to troll me too! But screw what he thinks, I’m still brewing Season 8! Hotstar Specials Koffee With Karan season 8 - streams from 26th October only on Disney+ Hotstar."
