Mother had one wish: How Mahira Khan paid ode to her nani, dadi in dua, mayoun

Actor shared some BTS on Instagram

Mahira Khan, who recently tied the knot with Salim Karim in a picturesque wedding ceremony, has once again delighted her fans by sharing some intimate behind-the-scenes glimpses of her special day on Instagram.

In her latest Instagram post, Mahira offered a glimpse into the heartfelt moments of her wedding festivities, sharing images from a dua ceremony and her mayoun. Alongside the photos, she penned a touching caption that shed light on the profound importance of family, friends, and tradition in her wedding celebrations.

"My mother had one wish," began Mahira in her post, "to start the wedding with a dua (prayer). My beautiful Ama, who is in a wheelchair - one would think she can’t do much - but really, she can do everything and anything. She sat and managed the decoration downstairs, the table, the moving around of furniture and she was ready, dot on time." The star expressed her gratitude for her parents.

She then revealed, "Later on that day, my childhood girlfriends had a mayoun for me. Alhumdulillah for friends I can call my sisters." In one of the heartwarming details she shared, Mahira mentioned how she placed a bud of the motia flower in her earring before descending for her wedding ceremony, as a tribute to her maternal and paternal grandmothers.

For the dua, Mahira opted for a pastel Umar Sayeed creation. The ivory and gold number was a classic - perfect for the star's quintessential minimalistic style statement. The ivory chikankari shirt with gold detailing with zari and pearls coupled beautifully with the gota-bordered dupatta, she draped ever-so-elegantly. Her dress comprised a soft gold churidar pyjama. For her makeup, Mahira went with her signature no-makeup look with a centrally-parted loose hairdo and small gold balis. She paired her look with matching khussas

For her mayoun the same day, Mahira amped it up in a mustard Zara Shahjahan outfit with dark green detailing. The elaborate frock with gold and green karahi bodice was simple yet made a statement. Mahira covered her head with the matching dupatta and glass bangles. She seemingly went ahead with the same look as her dua. Everything about the star's second look screamed traditional and we are all for it!

As Mahira and Salim embark on this new journey together as a married couple, fans eagerly await more glimpses and updates from their life together. It is evident that their love story is not just about two individuals but also the love and support of their families and friends, which Mahira continues to highlight and celebrate.
