Decision reserved on pleas against sugar prices
A Lahore High Court's (LHC) division bench headed by Justice Shahid Karim reserved decision on different petitions chellenging the increase of prices of the sugar by the federal government.’
The petitioner's counsels implored the court that the federal government has no power to fix the prices of the sugar adding after 18th amendment this power has been shifted to the provinces.
The lawyers representing federation strongly opposed the arguments citing the judgments of the superior courts contending that the federal government had the powers to fix the sugar prices. They requested the court to set aside the federal government's notification wherein the prices of the sugar had been increased.’
However, the bench after hearing detailed arguments reserved decision on the petitions.
