CS orders evaluation of Sialkot projects

Expresses dissatisfaction over pace of work

Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman directed the Gujranwala commissioner on Monday to conduct third-party evaluation of all projects of the Punjab Intermediate Cities Improvement Investment Programme (PICIIP) in Sialkot and ensure their timely completion.

He expressed dissatisfaction over the pace of work and said he had inspected the projects after receiving complaints from citizens of Sialkot

The official reviewed the PICIIP projects, construction of Allama Iqbal Teaching Hospital and Library, and Government Khawaja Safdar Girls High School.

During a briefing on the renovation of the Allama Iqbal Hospital, he said the healthcare facilities should not be affected during the project worth Rs390 million. He asked the hospital administration to prepare a plan for shifting the wards during the construction work.

The chief secretary said the project of making the Allama Iqbal Library a state of the art facility should be completed as soon as possible and books for preparation for competitive exams and admission tests should be available for students in it.

He also issued instructions regarding provision of better internet and other facilities in the kids’ area of the library.

At the Government Khawaja Safdar Girls High School, he said attention should be paid to the improvement of classrooms and to ensure the efficient use of funds.
