Polio prevention drive in full swing

Anti-polio campaign goes on in all 34 districts of Balochistan

QUETTA/PESHAWAR:

Coordinator of the Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) in Balochistan, Syed Zahid Shah, has announced the commencement of an anti-polio campaign in all 34 districts of Balochistan.

The campaign, spanning seven days, is well-prepared, with the government and the Emergency Operation Centre in Balochistan collaborating to reach approximately 2.4 million children under the age of five with polio drops. Additionally, Vitamin A drops will be administered to children during this drive.

Elaborating on the preparations, Syed Zahid Shah stated that 10,472 teams have been mobilized to ensure the vaccination of children under five. These teams comprise 8,589 mobile teams, 925 fixed teams, and 547 transit teams, covering the entire province to guarantee that all eligible children receive the polio drops.

Campaign in K-P

Simultaneously, a seven-day anti-polio campaign kicked off in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), targeting the vaccination of 7.478 million children under the age of five against polio.

In the first phase, children in Peshawar, Kohat, Mardan, Malakand, and Hazara divisions will receive polio drops. The second phase, from October 9 to 13, will extend to Bannu and DI Khan divisions. In total, 6,362,895 children in Peshawar, Kohat, Mardan, Malakand, and Hazara divisions will be vaccinated.
