Recently, it was announced that newcomer Usama Khan would be replacing actor Usman Mukhtar in upcoming TV serial Ghair, directed by Yasir Nawaz. Khan, who’d be starring opposite actor Ushna Shah in the show, shared a reel on his Instagram last week to let his followers know he’s bagged the part. He was seen fist bumping the cast of Ghair while distributing candies on set.
Now, director Yasir Nawaz has opened up about Mukhar’s sudden exit from the show, as well as his decision to cast Khan in his place. “Usman’s mother wasn’t well; she was in the ICU. We were understanding of the situation and waited three weeks. But other actors did have dates. So, Usman asked us to cast someone else because he didn’t know when he could resume work. It wasn’t our decision, it was his,” Nawaz commented in a video shared by @irfanistan on Insta.
“Thank God, his mother is doing better now, I think… she’s back home. But I can’t update anyone because we haven’t been in touch with Usman, he’s been busy looking after her,” added Nawaz. “He [Usman] was understanding of our situation too.” When asked about Khan, Nawaz maintained, “I believe in letting newer people in. [Inaudible]. I think he [Usama] was destined to this drama. I have faith that Usama will be a star one day.”
Mukhtar had updated fans about his mother’s health last week. In an emotional note shared on his IG Stories, Mukhtar had penned, “There are individuals whose resilience and inner strength stand out as an enduring source of inspiration. Amma is a remarkable embodiment of such strength,"
Mukhtar stated in his Instagram Story. He continued to explain that although his mother was now back home, her recovery journey was far from over. She required aggressive physiotherapy for several weeks to regain her strength and mobility fully. Nevertheless, Mukhtar had unwavering faith in his mother's resilience, referring to her as a true warrior.
Mukhtar’s mother, Nasira Begum, is also an actor from the 60s. "She was put on a ventilator for some time but fought her way out of it, and she's back home. Right now, she requires aggressive physiotherapy for several weeks before she's back on her feet, but Amma is a warrior and will be back on her feet in no time. She sends her love and gratitude to you all!" shared Mukhtar with his fans.
