She’s my best friend: Omer Shahzad opens up on bond with ‘Tamasha’ contestant Zainab Raza
At the recently held success party of Tamasha season 2, a representative of the popular Pakistani showbiz blog Irfanistan caught up with one of the five finalists, actor Omer Shahzad, for an impromptu interview. The interviewer asked him a question that has been on the minds of many Tamasha viewers since they witnessed the on-screen chemistry and rapidly blossoming friendship between him and his fellow contestant Zainab Raza.
Before asking the burning question, the interviewer admitted that it was one pertaining to the Bikhray Hain Hum actor’s personal life. He also premised his question with the suggestion that the Mere Humsafar actor could answer with a simple ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ and also expressed his concern over whether Omer would even wish to answer the question, considering the fact that he is known to be a private person. When the interviewer finally proceeded to ask the Woh Pagal Si star about the status of his relationship with Zainab, Omer handled the situation very tactfully and ended up explaining a lot about the dynamics of their friendship without really answering the question outright.
The Tasveer actor shared that as soon as he entered the Tamasha house, he was on the lookout for a friend and someone he could confide in and rely on during his stay. “From my very first day in the Tamasha house, I was looking among all the contestants for someone who I could confide in, because it’s very difficult to trust people you’ve never worked with,” said Omer while explaining how his bond with Zainab was formed. He went on to say that he found Zainab to be very “intelligent, outspoken, and sensible” and someone who was not afraid to take a stand and admitted that he was impressed when he saw that she possessed all these qualities.
The Gul-o-Gulzar actor also revealed that while living as housemates with his fellow contestants, he came to view them as his family and confessed that all of his emotions were raw and completely "natural" whenever they came up. Although he did not explicitly state what he was making this revelation in reference to, it is safe to assume that he was referring to his very overtly-sad and tearful reaction to Zainab’s shocking eviction from the Tamasha house.
In the end, he smiled and confessed that Zainab was his "best friend" and his go-to person for when it came to seeking advice or help in solving any problems. “Whenever I need help or advice in solving a problem, I call her up and ask her. And she very sensibly explains everything to me and helps me understand what I need to do," he stated.
When asked whether audiences and fans would ever see them together on screen again in a drama serial, Omer replied with a simple “Why not?” and expressed his hope that they would someday soon be cast together in a project.
