Pakistani music producer Sharif Awan has clinched a remarkable hat-trick of gold awards at the prestigious Global Music Awards (GMAs) held in California for his exceptional production titled 'Music in COVID Times.' The GMAs, known for recognizing outstanding artistry and talent across various music genres, including jazz, classical, fusion, folk, and contemporary music, have bestowed their highest honours upon Awan's latest work.
Produced under the banner of the Tehzeeb Foundation, 'Music in COVID Times' stands out as a record-breaking album, securing victories in the most coveted categories at the GMAs: Creativity/Originality, Best Album, and Best Producer.
This achievement is not the first time that Tehzeeb Foundation's projects have garnered international acclaim. Their flagship endeavour, 'Indus Raag - Beyond Borders,' previously secured a gold medal at the Global Music Awards in 2016, earning a spot on the list of the Top 10 Albums of the year. Furthermore, 'Indus Raag' made history as Pakistan's maiden entry into the Grammy Awards back in 2015.
In response to his recent triumph, Awan expressed his gratitude and shared, "A win for music anywhere is a win for music everywhere! I congratulate all the artists from Pakistan, India, Germany and the UK who came together to create this album in the most adverse of times. May the magic of music continue to heal us.”
Awan's victory underscores not only his personal dedication to musical excellence but also the ability of music to transcend borders and connect people, especially during challenging times such as the global COVID-19 pandemic. His recognition at the GMAs reaffirms Pakistan's standing in the global music landscape and serves as an inspiration for aspiring artists worldwide.
