Hadiqa Kiani, the renowned Pakistani singer, actor and philanthropist, announced on her official Instagram that she has successfully kept her promise of rebuilding Balochistan post 2022 floods.
The Hadsa actor revealed she surpassed her initial goal of building 200 homes and has instead constructed 370 houses and other health, community facilities through the platform of her non-profit, Vaseela-e-Raah, in the underprivileged areas of Naseerabad, Balochistan.
She took to her Instagram and wrote, “By the grace of Allah and your selfless help, we have surpassed our goal. The promise I made last year to the people of Balochistan, to my mother, and to my country is now complete.”
She furthered, “Our initial goal was 200 homes, but through prayer, determination, hard work, and community, we have now completed 370 homes, 2 mosques, 2 maternity centers, 1 school, and 1 grocery store in Tamboo and Kundi villages of Naseerabad, Balochistan. All funds collected over the past year have been fully utilized.”
She was also one of the few Pakistani celebrities who had previously visited flood ravaged areas and urged the public to come out and assist displaced victims in their hour of need. Kiani has been a long-time activist for women's and children's rights and launched her non-profit, Vasaal-e-Raah, as a promise to her mother and the people of Balochistan to complete her mission of rebuilding the province.
She thanked the public in an emotional post for their support in the noble cause. She provided complete transparency on how medicine, medical supplies, water, food, clothing, and general rations, as well as goodie bags for children were donated to flood victims through her platform.
The singer also mentioned that they have received active requests to install clean water plants and solar panels in order to ensure the region's sustainability and minimal resource waste. She further intends to film a follow-up video with more information about her work in Balochistan. She did, however, clarify that her campaign had concluded, and they were not collecting any more donations for now.
Hadiqa also shared a video from one of her recent visits in Balochistan and wrote, “Such a warm welcome that I’ll never forget, gathered beautiful memories of people and their immense love and respect.”
On the work front, Kiani recently starred in the controversial play Hadsa, which was temporarily banned by PEMRA due to social media backlash and the nature of the subject surrounding the show’s premises. The makers later clarified that the intention was not to glorify the notorious motorway incident but rather to raise awareness and empower victims of sexual violence and assault in Pakistan.
