Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir on Wednesday praised the strength and determination of women in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), highlighting their unwavering commitment in the face of multifaceted challenges stemming from the prolonged fight against terrorism.
He said this while attending the 'KPK Women Symposium – 2023' during his visit to Peshawar, where Gen Munir engaged in a meaningful dialogue with the respected women of the province, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military's media wing, said in a statement.

The COAS commended the resilience, dedication, and bravery displayed by K-P's women, who have persevered despite challenging circumstances.

During his address to the symposium's participants, Gen Munir underscored the historical significance of women's contributions to Pakistan's progress, emphasising their pivotal role in the nation's development.
He encouraged women to actively participate in advancing K-P's development, including the newly merged tribal districts.
As part of his visit, the COAS also participated in a meeting of the Provincial Apex Committee, alongside Caretaker K-P Chief Minister Muhammad Azam Khan. The meeting provided a comprehensive overview of the region's security situation, with a focus on initiatives against smuggling, hoarding, and drug trafficking.
During the meeting, attendees reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of citizens. They paid heartfelt tribute to the martyrs and their families for their sacrifices in the name of peace and security.
Gen Munir reiterated the importance of collaborative efforts for the peace and prosperity of the country, pledging the Pakistan Army's continued role in ensuring stability in K-P, thus creating a secure environment conducive to economic development.
The army chief was received upon his arrival in Peshawar by Commander Peshawar Corps, marking the commencement of this significant engagement.
