With Tamasha season 2 finally having come to an end with a winner announcement that left many fans and viewers of the show disgruntled and upset, Adnan Siddiqui took to his Instagram account to share his experience of being both the king and the kingmaker of the reality show with his followers.
Even with the show having concluded with a finale that aired this past weekend, there are still many debates taking place on social media over the five finalists that made it to the last leg of the race and whether the winner, Aruba Mirza, truly deserved her crown. Even though the show’s producers would have been the ones to blame for any orchestrations and interference with the contestants' gameplay and stay in the Tamasha house, the Yeh Dil Mera actor ended up bearing the major brunt of unhappy viewers because he is seen as the face of Tamasha. Amidst the criticism and backlash, Adnan has spoken out with a lengthy statement posted on the photo-sharing app.
Posting a picture to his Instagram profile in which he is seated on his throne chair during the finale, Adnan wrote: “'Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown.' Shakespeare's King Henry IV poetically agonised how those in the seat of power are beset with restlessness and worry. The burden of responsibilities never ceases to lessen for them.”
He continued to state, “From the vantage point of Badshah Salamat for Tamasha the second time around, I can see why the throne is a two-edged sword. It gets you power to take decisions but not without constant accountability. You aren't allowed to slip, you can't falter and you definitely cannot let your prejudices creep in. He further added, "Reality shows expose human beings at one of their most base levels. When people are thrown together with strangers in a closed, hostile environment which is also competitive, your most basic instinct, that's survival, is activated. There's no loved one around to confide in, friendships are transactional, affection is a rare commodity and to top it all, they are always striving to outdo their fellow mates wittingly or unwittingly."
The Meray Qatil Meray Dildar antagonist added, “For two years in a row, I have seen human emotions as raw as they could be inside Tamasha Ghar. And believe me, it takes immense mental strength to live under the glare of a camera 24 hours for weeks together." Throughout the second season’s daily, 50-day broadcasting, the host and proclaimed Badshah Salamat of the show was often criticised for how he treated certain contestants and seemed to favour others. Accusations of favouritism and orchestrated evictions were also levelled at the Meray Paas Tum Ho actor.
“I have often been criticised for being biased by fans and supporters of the contestants. My comment section and DMs are their favourite playground these days. They not only feel short-changed sometimes but also are supremely confident that they would done a more objective, more fair job. I read the feedback, amused by the simplistic view the audience offers. And I again go back to King Henry IV,” said Adnan, as a response to all the criticism and backlash he has faced through the entire runtime of Tamasha Season 2.
