First Pak couple scale 8th highest peak Manaslu

Achievement comes days after Naila Kiani became first Pakistani woman to conquer the eighth highest peak in world

In a historic feat, Lahore-based Ahmed Uzair and Anum Uzair have become the first Pakistani couple to summit the world’s eighth-highest peak Mount Manaslu, which is 8,163 metres above sea level in Nepal.

Accompanied by a team of three Sherpas, the husband-and-wife adventurers achieved this remarkable milestone on a glorious Sunday, as confirmed by Seven Summit Treks, the organisers of the expedition.

According to the Seven Summit Treks, “Congratulations to Ahmed and Anum Uzair who successfully climbed the eighth highest peak, Mt Manaslu (8163m), this morning.”

In a post on social networking website X on Sunday, the Seven Summit Treks said, “They are the first Pakistani couple to achieve (climb 8,000m peak) this feat.”

Pakistani climber Shehroze Kashif, who had recently summited the Manaslu peak, also congratulated the couple.
In his post on X, Kashif said, “Anum Uzair and Uzair Ahmed, from Lahore reached the summit of Manaslu 8,163 (metres) this morning becoming the first Pakistani couple atop any 8000er! This is a truly remarkable feat that showcases their immense passion and dedication to achieving the extraordinary!”

On Thursday, mountaineers Naila Kiani and Sirbaz Khan had also scaled Manaslu peak.
