A motorcyclist was killed in a landmine explosion in the Dera Bugti district of Balochistan on Monday morning.
Levies sources said one person lost his life on the spot while the other one sustained injuries after a landmine exploded in the Loti Baith area of the district.
The riders were headed towards their village when their motorcycle hit a landmine planted on the roadside.
The injured was rushed to a hospital for swift medical treatment and the dead body was shifted to a nearby hospital in Dera Bugti.
Levies and other law enforcement agencies (LEAs) personnel reached the spot and opened an investigation into the incident. The blast also destroyed the motorcycle, levies added.
The crime scene was cordoned off by the levies to investigate the incident and preserve the evidence.
The situation remains ambiguous as there was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
Landmine explosions have claimed scores of precious human lives in Dera Bugti, Kohlu, Sohbat Pur, Naseerabad and Jaffaraabad districts of Balochistan during the last two decades.
