A five-day anti-polio campaign is scheduled for October 2nd in the Bahawalpur district where over 800,000 children up to the age of five will be vaccinated. A meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Zaheer Anwar Jappa in the committee room of his office on Friday to review the arrangements.
The DC said that members of the polio teams should perform their services diligently and that not a single child should be left unvaccinated during the campaign. He directed team members and the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) to work jointly at bus stands. The DC further said that children should be made aware of polio prevention in educational institutions and that polio drops should also be given to children living in remote areas of Cholistan.
DC Jappa ordered the formation of committees at the tehsil levels for monitoring purposes. In the meeting, District Health Officer Preventive Dr Usama Munee Pansota said that the door-to-door campaign will continue from October 2 to October 4, where polio teams will go to houses to administer polio drops to children.
