The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Election Commission has formed the Provincial Voters Education Committee (PVEC) in order to achieve high and inclusive voter turnout in the upcoming general elections.
An official notification was issued on Thursday in this regard.
According to the notification, the provincial election commissioner will be the chairman of the committee, while the spokesperson for the provincial election commissioner will be the convener.
The committee includes representatives from various departments of the provincial government, including higher education, elementary and secondary education, archives and libraries, endowments, minority and religious affairs, social welfare, culture, tourism, archeology and museums, health, local government and rural development.
Representatives of K-P Commission on Status of Women, NADRA, Islamia College University, the Peshawar Press Club president and civil society organisations have also been included in the committee.
The primary objective of the committee is to engage with public and private stakeholders, including political parties, media outlets, and civil society organisations, through mass awareness and voter education activities using traditional and digital platforms.
“The Election Commission of Pakistan aims promote a culture of civic responsibility and democratic engagement across Pakistan,” the notification added.
