Caretaker Minister for Energy, Power and Minerals Development Engineer Ahmed Jan on Monday directed the K-P Oil and Gas Company Limited (K-POGCL) to intensify its practical efforts to fully utilise the natural resources of the province after he was informed that the daily oil production in the country was about 71,000 barrels, of which K-P produced about 31,000 barrels.

“Through dedication, hard work and honesty, we can be financially stable as I will support the company in its efforts for the development of the province,” Jan said during a meeting regarding the K-P OGDCL held at the Department of Energy and Power.

Besides Energy Secretary Zulfiqar Ali Shah, top officials of the company were in attendance.

The caretaker minister was informed that K-P had vast potential for valuable natural wealth of oil and gas and that the province produced 13 per cent of the country's total gas.

Noting that K-P was providing 41% of the total liquefied petroleum gas, the caretaker minister directed the OGCL to utilise the natural resources in true sense, saying that the officers concerned should take practical steps for the promotion and development of natural resources of oil and gas in the province.

“Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has been blessed by Allah Almighty with abundant natural resources in the form of oil and gas, it is necessary to utilise them in the true sense.”

A detailed briefing was given regarding the objectives, performance, future goals and challenges.
