Conjunctivitis alert issued at airports

Airlines directed to inform passengers affected by cataracts to refer to border health doctors at the airports

In a bid to prevent the spread of eye infection conjunctivitis, the Border Health Services Pakistan on Saturday issued an alert at the Jinnah International Airport and other airports of the country.

According to Director Health Dr Syed Ghulam Murtaza Shah, the airlines should inform passengers affected by cataracts to refer to border health doctors at the airports.

He said that passengers severely affected by conjunctivitis should avoid travelling on their own. “Conjunctivitis is a contagious disease and this disease is transmitted from one person to another.”

On the other hand, according to the Civil Aviation Authority spokesperson, travel restrictions were not being imposed on passengers affected by conjunctivitis.
